We Are M I L K

We Are M I L K is Dylan Strazar on Drums, Stephen James on guitars, Eric Marx – Vocals and Guitars, Meava writes and plays keyboards as well as doing vocals. and Alanis Nixar who plays Bass.

Their musical influences are varied from 60’s and 70’s classic rock, Psychedelic Rock, Punk, Ska and Grunge. The most notable artists they mentioned are David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Sublime, The Suicide Machines and Flea from The Red Hot Chile Peppers. They are even influenced by Jazz, which makes them that much more interesting. They have been playing together for three years.

We Are M I L K is based in Paris, France. However, Dylan is from New York, Stephen is from Philly, Eric grew up between France and England Meava was raised in West Africa, and Alex grew up in Japan and Brazil. This wide variety of world influences gives their music a very interesting combinations of unique sounds.

I asked them to tell me a funny story about their travels around Europe and Dylan said “Every day of my life is a funny story.” I can only imagine what that is like because I have my own times where everything seems like a funny story and you, the readers, I know can relate. Their favorite places to have played are The Dragonfly in LA and The bus Palladium in Paris, where they will play again this year.

They all said they are concerned with the well being of helpless, abused animals. Global Warming is also a big concern but they prefer to remain non-political. They like flexibility and with their international origins and wide variety of musical influences there is a real need it. Mixing and matching musical styles can be quite demanding.

At this time they are finishing up recording a new EP that will be ready for downloading and streaming soon. However, they also like releasing songs one or two at a time because they feel it keeps interest up for when the final EP itself is ready for release. They Also have a busy European Schedule planned for this year. I recommend you go see them live if you get the chance.
